Position: Support Group Co-Facilitator Supervisor: Therapy Program Manager Location: YWCA Admin Office Purpose: To give volunteers the opportunity to provide services directly to clients through weekly support groups about the dynamics of domestic violence. Duties: Facilitate YWCA’s domestic violence education support group once a week for 2 hours following specific YWCA curriculum only Arrive for group a minimum of 15 minutes early and be able to stay after as needed Prepare for each group by reviewing the topic prior to each group. Provide resources and referral to clients as needed Collect client data, document hours and attendance and give timesheets to appropriate program manager Provide timely information to the therapy program manager about any concerns that take place in group or with clients. Other administrative activities as needed. Requirements: Sensitivity to working with clients in crisis Complete the 40-hour domestic violence training provided by the YWCA Complete 20 hours on the YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline. Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required Desire to provide resources to victims of domestic violence Sensitivity to working with clients in crisis while maintaining boundaries Ability to listen and respond to the needs of the clients Ability to maintain a nonjudgmental and empowerment based approach when working with clients Commitment: 2 hours per week Attend monthly support group facilitator meetings Benefits: The opportunity to promote the mission of the YWCA and positively impact your community.
