LYG mentors create a brave space for our youth, build trust through relationships, and promote positive conversation and self-image. Mentors strengthen LYG by sharing their unique talents and gifts with our youth, staff, and each other. You must be between the ages of 21+ to mentor for our Junior Group (5-12) or 24+ to mentor for our senior group (13-20). Mentor Commitment: 1 year of service 1 programming night a month 1 -2 major programming events a year (ex. Louisville Youth Group is a safe space for LGBTQIA+ young adults that promotes personal and community growth through relationship building, leadership development, and social justice activism. We are a community of leaders, mentors, and volunteers who accept, affirm and uplift young people regardless of their sexual orientation and gender identity. Our goal is to always grow, learn, and adapt as a way to encourage inclusivity and foster a wide reach of understanding for all.

Description

Louisville Youth Group (LYG) is the primary LGBTQIA+ nonprofit community serving LGBTQIA+ youth in Kentuckiana. We provide a safe space for gender and sexuality diverse young adults to grow their identities, learn leadership skills, and develop the tools needed to both thrive personally and to act as agents of change in their communities.

LYG accomplishes these goals through our primary weekly programming, targeted leadership development opportunities, community partnerships, retreats, and through outreach to local school systems, healthcare agencies, and other groups providing education and care to LGBTQIA+ youth and young adults.
