About Us

The Borland Free Clinic is the only free clinic in Washington County and the only free clinic that sees both children and adults within Clackamas County. We aim to address the primary care needs of the uninsured and underinsured members of our community, as well as those who are falling through the insurance gap.

Position Description

Language support volunteers are fluent in Spanish and work as the primary interface between staff and patients, providing culturally competent, caring, and quality interpretation. They stay with the patient during their appointment and make follow up calls to patients with lab results and other care, as prescribed by their doctor. They also greet patients, assist them in filling out forms and are available to answer questions.

Individuals who are pursuing their medical interpreter certification may complete their required hours at the clinic.

Schedule

The English/Spanish Bilingual Language Support Volunteers should be available twice a month on clinic days (Monday and/or Thursday) during clinic hours (3:00-7:00 pm).

Qualifications

A successful Language Support Volunteer is able to demonstrate both written and oral fluency in Spanish and English. They are also professional, welcoming, and discrete in order to help the patient feel comfortable while maintaining confidentiality.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Greeting patients out front, helping them fill out forms and serving as a welcoming presence to our clinic by greeting patients
  • Stay with patients during their appointment, ensuring that patients know exactly what is happening, and then make appropriate follow ups after the visit
  • Able to write well in both languages and can help develop marketing materials, patient forms, and signage

About BORLAND FREE CLINIC

Location:

3550 SW BORLAND RD, TUALATIN, OR 97062, US

Mission Statement

To provide hope and healing to vulnerable people in our community as an expression of Christ's love.

Description

Founded in 2012 we are a faith-based free Primary Care Clinic. In 2017 we began offering a CDC-recognized Diabetes Prevention Program and classes for patients struggling to control their diabetes. In 2018 we opened our doors to anyone who does not have insurance or is underinsured seeking medical care. We are run almost entirely by volunteers and do not charge for any of our services. We are the only free medical clinic in our area seeing both adults and children. We are growing rapidly as we seek to provide services to an increasing patient population of Latino, homeless, immigrant and other underserved communities. We offer assistance to those seeking eligibility for Oregon Health Plan and wanting help in locating social services and free medications.
