About Habitat for Humanity of North Central Connecticut

Location:

780C Windsor Street, Hartford, CT 06120, US

Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity of North Central Connecticut is part of a global, nonprofit housing organization operated on Christian principles that seeks to put God’s love into action by building homes, communities, and hope. Habitat for Humanity NCC is dedicated to eliminating substandard housing locally and worldwide through constructing, rehabilitating, and preserving homes; by advocating for fair and just housing policies; and by providing training and access to resources to help families improve their shelter conditions. Habitat for Humanity was founded on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent shelter in decent communities should be a matter of conscience and action for all.

Description

Since our inception in 1989, Habitat for Humanity of North Central Connecticut has built over 350 homes and served over 350 families in the Greater Hartford & Tolland County Communities! We work closely with prospective homeowners within our community to provide affordable homeownership opportunities for hardworking families in need. All of our prospective homeowners must complete a minimum of 150 hours of "sweat equity " and 50 hours of financial literacy training to qualify for our 0% interest mortgage homes.

This is a hand up, not a hand out program! All homeowners will pay a monthly mortgage, as well as a "down payment" on their new home.

Our homes are built with 90% volunteer labor - whether it be on a jobsite, in office, or out in the community, we will always find the best fit for you here at HFHNCC!
