The Las Trampas Board of Directors is composed of caring and talented leaders who are dedicated to the organization’s mission. Our goal is to diversify our dynamic team with new voices and varied perspectives to enhance and expand our capacity as we guide Las Trampas’ strategic direction.

Who We Are - A Non Profit Supporting Adults with Developmental Disabilities

For over 60 years, Las Trampas has been a provider of choice delivering much needed services and programs to adults with developmental disabilities, including; (Autism, IDD, Down Syndrome and Asperger's Syndrome).

Founded in 1958 as a non-profit residential school by parents, family, and community members, our philosophy has always been that persons with developmental disabilities are entitled to develop their optimum state of social, physical, and mental well-being, and share an integrated lifestyle similar to what non-disabled persons are fortunate to enjoy. Currently, Las Trampas provides day program educational and vocational services, residential services, supported and independent living services throughout Contra Costa County.

Skills Needed: Commercial Contractor Board Member

We need high level Construction Managers and Commercial Developers or Commercial Builders who can help guide our Infrastructure committee as we build a new campus for Las Trampas. Ideally, we’re looking for individuals who are:

  1. Knowledgeable about commercial construction projects.
  2. Adept at participating and obtaining local municipality approvals for projects and coordinates with clients during design stage.
  3. Skilled at planning and organizing all aspects of construction for multiple projects on the Las Trampas campus and residential properties.
  4. Experienced working with sub-contractors to ensure budgets and specifications are accurate.
  5. Skilled at Monitoring, reviewing and controlling project costs to ensure project completion are on schedule, within budget and in accordance with quality goals established for the project.
  6. Have construction experience in the State of California.
  7. Effective at communicating with Contractors, Superintendents, etc.


Your background may include experience with:

  • Architecture
  • Interior design
  • Construction management
  • Real estate development


Understanding of California State & County construction regulations and ADA requirements is important. Estimates and Bids area requires a high level skill set such as an Engineer or Contractor.

Interested candidates should possess strong leadership, business acumen, and communication skills. Desired backgrounds include prior professional contractor expertise in the nonprofit or for-profit sector.

Board members are expected to have financial acumen to read and understand Las Trampas’ financial statements and otherwise help the board fulfill its fiduciary responsibilities.
