We’re ConnectPlus, a volunteering and tutoring organization based in Virginia that seeks to make the world a better place by making English tutoring easily accessible to all.
Come join our team as a tutor today by signing up below! You'll be paired with an aspiring English learner from China for two 45-minute sessions every week. ConnectPlus Description
ConnectPlus was founded in March 2020, at the start of the COVID-19, by a group of high school and college students who wanted to create a positive outlet for individuals in either teaching or learning English amidst those difficult times. Since our establishment, we’ve recruited 500+ tutors worldwide and taught 600+ students across China, logging 10k+ hours of free English instruction.
HSE English is ConnectPlus' English tutoring branch. HSE's lessons allow many students who would not otherwise have the means to gain valuable English instruction. Our volunteer tutors teach 1 student at a time, using a specially designed curriculum that focuses on developing conversational abilities instead of rote memorization of vocabulary or grammar to help students gain the fluency needed to truly become global citizens.

Mission Statement
ConnectPlus aims to make English education accessible worldwide through the provision of free, interactive English lessons to all who desire it. Through interaction with a network of purely volunteer tutors who aim to create equitable, immersive, and approachable class environments, students can learn practical English not taught in traditional classrooms, and in doing so are empowered in more positively contributing to the wellbeing of their communities and the world as a whole.

Since 2020, ConnectPlus has recruited 500+ tutors worldwide and taught 600+ students across China, logging 10,000+ hours of English instruction.
HSE is ConnectPlus' English-tutoring branch. HSE is happy to provide verification of volunteer hours (for community service requirements), volunteer certificates, and recommendations. Volunteering experiences with HSE can also be submitted as part of resumes for college and job applications.

- Must be at least 13
- Our minimum time commitment is 1.5 hours every week (two 45-minute classes a week for one student), but you're welcome to contribute more if you want!
- Native-level English fluency, access to a stable internet connection, and the ability to open Google Documents are required. Willingness to work with others and a friendly disposition don't hurt either!
