As the American Red Cross continues to deliver critical services to your community during the current COVID-19 health crisis-preparation is underway for a very active hurricane season in the Gulf. Under a modified approach to sheltering families in the event of a large disaster, the Red Cross is seeking volunteers to serve in one of two roles.
Disaster Shelter Teams
Due to COVID-19, the Red Cross is sheltering those who need a safe place to stay in hotel lodging when possible. If hotels are not available, traditional shelters will be opened with very small populations. Volunteers are needed to work in shifts, performing tasks such as reception, registration, feeding, dormitory, information and more.
Disaster Health Services
Are you a licensed healthcare professional? Or, are you a student in the healthcare field? The Red Cross has a high need for health care workers to provide care and assistance to shelter residents as needed.
Free online training is provided which emphasizes protocol and maximum safety in caring for others in a COVID-19 environment. Associate and supervisory roles available.
