ORGANIZATION: Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California

  • The Volunteer Coordinator is primarily responsible for responding to new volunteer applications and inquiries, and for keeping our volunteer roster up-to-date. Duties also include:

    • Screening applications, communicating with applicants to gather relevant information, and referring applicants to the appropriate team coordinator.
    • Onboarding and offboarding new and departing volunteers, respectively. This typically includes communicating with the Web Team to ensure new volunteers have a BHRSC email address and proper access to documents relevant to the position.
    • Recruit and organize volunteers for annual Spring Games and Bids & Bites for Bassets Events
    • Recruit and organize hosts for Brunch with Bassets social events, usually held in Spring, Summer, and Fall.
    • Work with the Web team and Social Media Team to post and maintain volunteer listings on BHRSC’s website, social media, and outside sites such as VolunteerMatch and (the latter is done by the Volunteer Coordinator alone).
    • The Volunteer Coordinator sits on the Executive Committee. As a member of the EC, the Volunteer Coordinator agrees to volunteer at our annual Spring Games and Bids & Bites for Bassets events, and to participate in quarterly meetings.

Mission Statement

To offer sanctuary, healing and placement into a new family to distressed, abandoned, injured or homeless Hounds. We work to raise funds to save as many Hounds as possible and constantly strive to grow our network of volunteers and foster homes.


Basset Hound Rescue of Southern California was founded in 1997 and has saved more than 1,800 hounds since our inception. We are all volunteer run and operate with the help of more than 70 dedicated volunteers.
