Help the Atlanta Group Home! We are a home for adults with developmental disabilities, currently with 4 residents. The home was opened in 1984, and has a lot of history, but times have caught up to the organization, and with a lot of change so far this year, we're looking for a few talented and conscientious volunteer board members to help lead and strengthen our programs for adults with developmental disabilities and their families. We're especially looking for folks with experience and knowledge of nonprofits, low-income housing, and developmental disabilities.

It does feel a bit desperate asking someone like you to join a board that's as fragile as this one. But this organization has a unique role to play in solving the problem of decent housing for adults who are unable to afford it due to disabilities. The current board has been around for a long time, and in order for the organization to keep going, what's really needed is a total overhaul of the board. I'd like you to work with the existing six board members, and myself, in helping figure out how to move into the future, and really make this board work. They meet every month, though possibly more. I’m fairly new to the organization, so patience is going to be needed as well! Would you work with us? After speaking with me, and learning a bit more, I can direct you to one of the board members.

This opportunity will mostly meet virtually, but the members should live in the Metro Atlanta area.
