The Washington Youth Soccer Foundation is looking for new Soccer for Success coaches for the 2022-2023 school year. Soccer for Success is the U.S. Soccer Foundation’s innovative youth development program that uses soccer as a tool to combat childhood obesity and promote healthy lifestyles for children in low-income urban communities.
Soccer for Success coaches/mentors should be prepared to teach and encourage healthy lifestyles, being a positive role model, and investing in the successful development of their players. No coaching experience is required, but the position will require coaches to organize and oversee 90-minute practice sessions at least three days a week.
Responsibilities:
- Utilize established curriculum to run practice sessions three times a week in the afternoon/early evening at assigned school(s).
- Sessions can include drills, skills challenges, scrimmages, and other soccer-related activities.
- Properly plan, organize, and distribute snacks during and after practice sessions.
- Set up and tear down fields/pitches before and after practice sessions.
- Teach proper nutrition to players with a Soccer for Success-approved lesson plan.
- Debrief with players at the end of every sessions.
- Connect with families and ensure that they also receive the nutrition and fitness information and are informed about Soccer for Success events.
