Help the Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) recruit and place new volunteers so we can save more animal lives! The Volunteer Recruitment Lead will work with our program leads to identify volunteer needs, advertise volunteer opportunities, interview interested candidates, and place new volunteers. On-the-job training and mentoring will be provided. Key responsibilities include:
Identify volunteer needs in consultation with program leads.
Write volunteer position descriptions in consultation with program leads.
Advertise volunteer opportunities. We currently use VolunteerMatch and Facebook.
Interview and select volunteers with program leads.
Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills.
Develop and implement an intake and interview protocol for potential volunteers to ensure the best match between the skills, qualification, and interests of the volunteers and the needs of the organization.
Coordinate with Volunteer Orientation Lead to ensure new volunteers receive appropriate training
Assist with the orientation and engagement of volunteers as needed
Previous experience with interviewing candidates, or willingness to learn.
Ability to use tact when volunteers are not fit for a specific position and redirect their interests to a more suitable position.
Understanding of HSLC programs, or willingness to learn quickly.
Responsive. Ability to respond within 24-48 hours.
Communication skills, both written and verbal.
Sensitivity and discretion with personal information.
Organizational skills to keep track of open positions and volunteer candidates.
Location: Currently virtual until it is safe to return to in-person venues. In-person recruiting is strongly encouraged and in-person interviewing is preferred.

In 2019, we supported 134 adoptions, helped 169 community cats, moved 22 working cats, supported 773 spay/neuter surgeries, and delivered 21,475 pounds of Pet Pantry food to Loudoun Hunger Relief. We are looking to surpass these numbers in 2020 through the help of our incredible volunteers.
