If so, this is the PURRRFECT opportunity for you. Join the Volunteer Management team to recruit, train, engage, and acknowledge our community of dedicated volunteers!
As the Volunteer Recruiter, you will recruit and place new volunteers so we can save more animal lives! The Volunteer Recruitment Lead will work with our program leads to identify volunteer needs, advertise volunteer opportunities, interview interested candidates, and place new volunteers. On-the-job training and mentoring will be provided. Key responsibilities include:
Identify volunteer needs in consultation with program leads
Write volunteer position descriptions in consultation with program leads
Advertise volunteer opportunities using VolunteerMatch and Facebook
Interview and select volunteers with program leads
Develop and implement effective strategies to recruit the right volunteers with the right skills
Coordinate with Volunteer Orientation Lead to ensure new volunteers receive appropriate training
Gather volunteer accomplishments and provide to Volunteer Coordinator
Serve as a regular contributor to the Volunteer Newsletter (HSLC Heroes) and assist with the administration of the Volunteer Facebook Page
Assist with the orientation and engagement of volunteers as needed
Previous experience with interviewing and recruiting
Experience using, or willingness to learn, Google Apps, Skype, and Canva
Ability to use tact when volunteers are not fit for a specific position and redirect their interests to a more suitable position
Responsive. Ability to respond within 24-48 hours
Communication skills, both written and verbal
Sensitivity and discretion with personal information
Organizational skills to keep track of open positions and volunteer candidates
Enthusiastic about HSLC mission and programs!
Location: Currently virtual until it is safe to return to in-person venues. In-person recruiting is strongly encouraged and in-person interviewing is preferred. Benefits of volunteering in this role include:

The Humane Society of Loudoun County (HSLC) is a non profit 501(3)c animal welfare organization founded in 1966. Our mission is to partner with our community to work towards a time when all animals have loving homes. We do not have a physical shelter or location.
Based in Loudoun County Virginia, our programs and services include Rescue (Intake), Foster, Adoption, Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) / Community Cats, Barn-Working Cats, Pet Pantry, Low Cost Spay / Neuter, Financial Assistance, Media & Public Relations, Youth Education & Programs, Humane Education, Paw Prints Newsletter, General Helpline & Email, Fundraising, Volunteer Management, Social Events, Fundraising Events, and Community Outreach.
In 2019, we supported 134 adoptions, helped 169 community cats, moved 22 working cats, supported 773 spay/neuter surgeries, and delivered 21,475 pounds of Pet Pantry food to Loudoun Hunger Relief. We are looking to surpass these numbers in 2020 through the help of our incredible volunteers.
