ORGANIZATION: FUND FOR RESOURCE CONSERVATION

Are you interested in helping your local community become more wildfire resistant, or just want to know what makes a plant fire-resistant? Why not take some time and volunteer at our Community Demonstration Fire-wise Garden. We need help finalizing the garden for its grand opening later this summer. This garden will focus on educating Ventura County on how to prevent wildfires through firescaping landscapes. Come spend a weekend getting your hands dirty for a good cause. Mission Statement

Our mission is to collaborate with landowners, government agencies, and other willing partners to facilitate the conservation and restoration of Ventura County's natural resources for current and future generations.

Description

The Ventura County Resource Conservation District (VCRCD) is a special district of the state and is primarily funded by grants. We provide assistance to help both rural and urban communities to conserve, protect, and restore natural resources.

The Ventura County RCD is a local unit of the government and is administered under the provisions of Division 9, of the Public Resource Code, State of California. The VCRCD is one of 99 RCDs in California and belongs to the California Association of RCDs (CARCD).

The VCRCD is governed by a board of seven Directors appointed for four-year terms by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors. Directors must be landowners or agents of landowners residing within the District. Regular Directors meetings are held at 8:30 a.m. on the third Wednesday of the month except for August and December, which have no meetings.
