Every 3 minutes someone is diagnosed with a blood cancer. And every 9 minute someone loses their fight. But there is hope. A blood stem cell or marrow transplant can cure patients battling life-threatening blood cancers like leukemia and lymphoma and other blood diseases like sickle cell anemia.

COVID-19 has had an enormous impact on our ability to add people to the Be The Match Registry (the National Marrow Donor Program). Volunteers will use social media and their personal network to advocate on behalf of patients. We need people who are organized and passionate about making a difference. Someone you encourage to sign up could go on to save a life!

Hours are flexible and it all can be done from the comfort of your couch. By volunteering, you can help give hope to thousands of patients and their families.

Mission Statement

Removing Barriers The Mission of the Icla da Silva Foundation is to save the lives of patients with diseases whose only cure is a bone marrow or cord blood transplant by providing emotional, logistical, and financial support to remove barriers to treatment. Our Vision is that one day, regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status, every patient suffering from a disease whose only cure is a matching bone marrow or cord blood transplant will receive their treatment without barriers.

Description

A Critical Goal
Our goal is to provide emotional, logistical, and financial support to more patients in need. Our IclaCares program awards financial grants specific to bone marrow transplant patients, including blood cancers and sickle cell disease. We help to cover the cost of transportation, meals, housing/lodging, and other critical expenses associated with the transplant that most insurance companies do not cover.

We need your help. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our donors and fundraisers. Program continuation is dependent on the availability of funds and the program could be discontinued at any time if funding is limited or no longer available.

Please consider joining our team of volunteers to help grow our program and raise funds so that we can ensure more patients receive their life-saving treatment.

*The Icla da Silva Foundation was established in June of 1992, as a nonprofit organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS Code.
