In only 7 - 12 hours per month, you can make a difference in a child's life as a volunteer advocate.

Children enter foster care for a variety of reasons: abuse, medical or physical neglect, abandonment, etc. When they enter foster care, these children are often confused, scared, and lonely. Each and every one of them deserves a dedicated, compassionate advocate to help them navigate the difficult child welfare system.

No specific background or education is needed to become a volunteer advocate. Passaic County CASA will provide all needed training and resources.

The first step to becoming a volunteer is to attend our next volunteer information session, which will be held via Zoom on Saturday, September 12, 10 - 11 a.m. Learn about the volunteer program, the foster care system, and the CASA training. Please RSVP here if you plan to attend: https://www.passaiccountycasa.org/virtual-info-sessions

About CASA of Passaic and Union Counties

Location:

415 Hamburg Turnpike, Suite D2, Wayne, NJ 07470, US

Mission Statement

Court Appointed Special Advocates of Passaic and Union Counties is an independent, non-profit organization that champions the best interests of children involved in the child welfare system. CASA volunteers serve as a child's advocate in court and are committed to ensuring that needed services and assistance are made available to children in need.

Description

Every year more than half a million abused and neglected children are in need of safe, permanent, nurturing homes.

That's where CASA steps in. CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) was created in 1977 to make sure the abuse and neglect these children originally suffered at home doesn't continue as abuse and neglect at the hands of the system. As trained advocates, CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to be a voice for these children in court. The result is that a child has an individual advocate to speak for them in court.

It is the CASA vision to provide a volunteer for each and every abused and neglected child who needs one.
