Volunteers are needed for our accredited Afterschool Program!
The Afterschool Program is for students in grades 1-8, starting August 3, 2023 and following the school year calendar. We are currently looking for several volunteers to support the program in different areas:
ENRICHMENT TEACHERS l TUTORS
Enrichment Teachers are needed for:
STEM/Robotics
Arts and Crafts
Music
Health/Wellness
Outdoor activities
Recreation/Sports
Theater
Cooking/Nutrition
We would like Enrichment Teachers who can be available for at least a 1 hour of instruction time, 2-3 times a week, depending on the program schedule. Hours will typically be from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday (with the exception of recreational and outdoor volunteers, who are only needed on Thursdays or Fridays)
Tutoring & Homework Help
Tutors and homework helpers are needed for 1:1 and small group sessions.
Depending on the grade level, the scheduled homework times will be between 3:30 pm and 5:30 pm, Monday through Thursday. There are also additional volunteer opportunities during this time for support in Math & Reading enrichment activities.
In addition, volunteers working with children must have TB Test, Fingerprinting, Central Registry, SLED and Sex Offender checks screenings, and three reference checks. The only exception to these requirements are those volunteer groups or individuals who come to campus for one-time events or activities that are supervised by Tamassee staff. All criminal history checks must be completed annually. A donation to Tamassee would be appreciated to cover the cost of these checks.
