FoodRecovery Volunteers

FoodCircle Foundation is recruiting volunteers for its new FoodRecovery Program that rescues food from becoming food waste and puts it into the hands of Seattle’s food insecure. While we are still finalizing the program, we are reaching out to recruit volunteers for the upcoming program launch. Volunteer Food Runners transport food from the donor to the recipient organization. As a FoodCircle FoodRecovery Volunteer you would be notified when food has been donated and if you are available and want to make the run, you would pick up the food donation and deliver it to the organization in need. Volunteers for this program do need to have a vehicle, a bicycle could work for small local deliveries.

Why volunteer?

  • You will be helping reduce food waste and providing food for those that need it
  • This volunteer program is designed to fit around your schedule - you choose the runs you want to make and when
  • FoodCircle is taking a community action approach to solve the wood waste issues within the area
  • One in seven Americans is food insecure. Despite such a large number of people not having enough to eat, each year, the United States throws away 40% of its food supply.
  • Over 67 billion pounds of our food waste ends up in landfill and damages our environment with harmful methane gases.

FoodCircle Foundation is creating a better world through food. Our mission is to bring people together around food, creating connection, harmony and healing.

Mission Statement

FoodCircle is creating a better world through food. Our mission is to bring people together around food, creating connection, harmony and healing.

Description

We bring people together around food via these initiatives:

FoodRecovery
FoodRecovery is a program with a community action approach working to solve the food waste issue in the Seattle area. In the United States, we throw away 40% of our food supply yet one in seven Americans is food insecure. FoodRecovery rescues food from becoming food waste and puts it into the hands of Seattle’s food insecure.

FoodPath Program

FoodPath provides free, one-on-one coaching on how to cook in meaningful, convenient, and affordable ways - without relying on recipes or fancy ingredients.

Reimagining Grocery
Transforming our relationship with food begins long before the kitchen. We’re on a mission to reimagine the conventional grocery store by exploring and developing a new grocery model with no branding and no single-use packaging. This bulk-food model will cut costs for the customer and producer, as well as support sustainable, healthy living.
