The County of Los Angeles is committed to feeding our most vulnerable communities during the COVID-19 pandemic. We are mobilizing public agencies, nonprofits, and importantly, the volunteer community to provide meals to anyone in need during the long months to come.

Mission Description: The Los Angeles County Emergency Food Security Branch is holding a drive-thru food distribution event at Long Beach City College - Pacific Coast Campus, located at 1305 East Pacific Coast Hwy, Long Beach, 90806.Your volunteer efforts will provide desperately needed hunger relief to at least 1500 vulnerable families impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and associated economic crisis.

Volunteer Roles and Responsibilities: Volunteers will assist with a variety of activities to support the event, including:

  • Event Setup
  • Intake
  • Traffic Control
  • Placing Boxes (15-36 lbs.) into Vehicles
  • Clean Up

Requirements: Volunteers must be healthy, able to lift 36 lbs. boxes of food and stand for several hours. Volunteers must be 18 and over.

Dress Code: Volunteers should dress casually, e.g., jeans and a t-shirt. Shoes should be comfortable and supportive flats with a closed toe, e.g., tennis shoes. We recommend that you bring a hat and sunscreen, as the day may be warm.

Additional Details: Volunteers will be provided PPE, water, and lunch. Social distancing will be practiced.
