Mission Statement

We influence policy, hold politicians accountable, and win elections. This is how we fight to build a world with clean air, clean water, public lands, and a safe climate that are protected by a just and equitable democracy. Over the last 50 years, LCV has grown into a potent political force for protecting our planet and everyone who inhabits it. We have built a powerful national movement with more than 2 million members, 30 state affiliates, and grassroots and community organizing programs across the country.

Description

Protecting our environment requires massive grassroots support. Our grassroots movement includes programs on the ground engaging people in their local community as well as online. In eight states, LCV has developed a powerful volunteer organizing structure to boost our grassroots reach and keep pressure on elected leaders. Our in-depth programs engage an increasingly diverse and committed base of activists to build relationships with our elected officials and to speak out every day about the urgent need to act on climate change.

Overall, LCV now has more than 2 million members across the country - and since 2013, LCV has engaged more than 32,000 volunteers who have made phone calls, knocked on doors, attended events, and advocated on behalf of climate action.
