NYC Remote Friendly Visitor - adults 55+ only
Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)/CSSNYC
Want to make a difference?
Remotely visit a homebound senior or hospital patient in need of companionship via phone call or potentially video chat. Play a game, discuss a book or current events, talk about life, troubleshoot a problem--with so little effort, there is so much you can do to make a person's day! Especially in these uncertain, high anxiety times, your help and support can make all the difference.
Please Note: due to the constantly evolving health crisis, the operations of many RSVP partners have been, and may still be, impacted (ie. staff may be remote and organizations may not be taking on new volunteers). However, many of our partners with friendly visiting opportunities have converted their activities from in-person to remote--accordingly, RSVP will help you to figure out which are still serving clients at any given time and/or will help you find something else you might like.
Guess what?! There are even more great opportunities for volunteers 55 and older in all 5 boroughs!
RSVP works with over 250 other partner organizations as well. If this opportunity is not for you, we can help you find another that is. Inquire about our current remote opportunities today and/or ask to be added to our contact list for after things settle down!
**Please note: all RSVP volunteer opportunities are for individuals 55 and older; also, most assignments are with our partners located across the City**
About Retired & Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP)/CSSNYC
633 Third Avenue, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10017, US
The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) was started in 1966 by the Community Service Society (CSS), an over 170-year-old nonprofit agency. CSS's mission is to identify problems which create a permanent poverty class in New York City, and to advocate the systemic changes required to eliminate such problems. CSS will focus on enabling, empowering and promoting opportunities for poor families and individuals to develop their full potential, to contribute to society, and to realize social, economic and political opportunities.
RSVP matches adults 55 and older with meaningful volunteer opportunities at New York City nonprofits. With more than 2,300 volunteers, RSVP in New York City is one of the largest senior volunteer programs in the nation. There are over 600 RSVPs which operate nationally and many that do so internationally. We match volunteers on the basis of interests and abilities, community needs, geographic convenience, and experience.
