The COVID-19 crisis forced the postponement/cancellation of hundreds of potential marrow donor recruitment events across the country in 2020. That is bad news for men, women and children who are currently fighting blood illnesses, such as leukemia, lymphoma or sickle cell disease, who haven't found their match for a lifesaving transplant.

But we can help give patients and their families hope by advocating for them and encouraging people to sign up for the National Marrow Donor Program. You would be using your smart phone or tablet to reach out to people and walk them through the process of signing up as potential donors. We need people who are organized and passionate about making a difference. Someone you encourage to sign up for the National Marrow Donor Program could go on to save a life!

The need is especially critical for people of color to volunteer. We need a lot of help. High school students, college students or seniors would be great fits.

Mission Statement

Removing Barriers The Mission of the Icla da Silva Foundation is to save the lives of patients with diseases whose only cure is a bone marrow or cord blood transplant by providing emotional, logistical, and financial support to remove barriers to treatment. Our Vision is that one day, regardless of ethnicity or socioeconomic status, every patient suffering from a disease whose only cure is a matching bone marrow or cord blood transplant will receive their treatment without barriers.

Description

A Critical Goal
Our goal is to provide emotional, logistical, and financial support to more patients in need. Our IclaCares program awards financial grants specific to bone marrow transplant patients, including blood cancers and sickle cell disease. We help to cover the cost of transportation, meals, housing/lodging, and other critical expenses associated with the transplant that most insurance companies do not cover.

We need your help. As a non-profit organization, we rely on the generosity of our donors and fundraisers. Program continuation is dependent on the availability of funds and the program could be discontinued at any time if funding is limited or no longer available.

Please consider joining our team of volunteers to help grow our program and raise funds so that we can ensure more patients receive their life-saving treatment.

*The Icla da Silva Foundation was established in June of 1992, as a nonprofit organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS Code.
