Cat Care volunteers commit to either a weekly or an every-other-week shift to help care for our dog population. Cat care includes cleaning cat enclosures and litterboxes, assisting with feedings, socializing (using positive reinforcement), and helping with daily operations (dishes, laundry, enrichment prep, and donation sorting).

Anderson Animal Shelter is a non-profit organization located in northern Kane County Illinois. We collaborate with public and private organizations and individuals to shelter, care for and promote the adoption of stray and unwanted companion animals. We work to create mutually beneficial connections between people and animals through programs that raise awareness and inspire kindness, empathy and respect throughout our community.

  • Animal Care / Handling




  • Must be at least 16
  • 2 to 4 hours per month depending on the volunteer's shift commitment. We ask that Dog Care Volunteers commit to at least one shift every week or once every-other-week.
  • -Must be 16 years or older -All volunteers need to be able to volunteer autonomously and be able to handle an unpredictable environment -Have a valid email address -Attend both an orientation and training shifts -Pay a volunteer fee
