ORGANIZATION: On Point for College

OPFC hosts a variety of annual events including the annual spring Celebration Gala Dinner, the Golf for Grads Tournament, and the Laptop-Giveaway.

The gala and golf tournament both help raise funds for the organization. Volunteers may choose to act as planning committee members, working to solicit sponsorships or silent auction donations, or, they can provide day of support, helping to execute the event the day of.

The Laptop Giveaway is a student event where the organization gifts eligible students with a refurbished laptop donated by other local organizations. Students applying to receive a laptop, must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 college credits and have a GPA of a 3.0 or higher. Volunteers are pivotal in the set-up and clean-up of the event site.

Description

On Point for College is a not-for-profit education and career attainment support program established in 1999. We aid individuals in overcoming the barriers to post-secondary education by helping them access and succeed in college and training and certificate programs.

We also help them leverage their skills and educations into meaningful employment opportunities. Since 1999, volunteers have played a critical role in making it possible for On Point to help more than 10,000 individuals pursue their dreams of higher education.
