On Point for College
Employee Recruitment Event Participant: OPFC hosts an array of events throughout the year which are geared towards helping our participants identify job opportunities that align with their experiences, goals, and educational background. Time commitment: 3-4 hours the day of the event. Career Information Session Host: Career Services works throughout the year to coordinate and deliver presentations to our participants on a variety of topics relevant to students and recent grads, including employment preparedness, financial literacy, vision planning, and identifying a strong career path. We are always looking for partners to deliver quality content - specific to a particular topic, industry, organization or trade. Time commitment: Presentation preparation 2-3 hours, day of presentation time of 1-2 hours.
Internship Partner/ Job Shadow Host: Many OPFC students and new graduates lack professional experience. The Career Services team works to provide our participants with exposure to professional workplaces and careers they may otherwise be unfamiliar with. Organizations willing to provide an intern with an engaging professional experience is invaluable. Time commitment: Application process, length of internship may be anywhere from 4-8 weeks.
Mentoring & Empowerment Speaker: OPFC hosts men’s and women’s empowerment events each quarter. The events provide an opportunity for professionals in the community to connect with and support our participants by engaging in meaningful conversation and/or mentoring. The goal of these events is to help our participants understand the importance of connecting with others along their journey to success. Time commitment: Quarterly pre-event planning 2-3 hours, 2-3 hours the day of event.

On Point for College is a not-for-profit education and career attainment support program established in 1999. We aid individuals in overcoming the barriers to post-secondary education by helping them access and succeed in college and training and certificate programs.
We also help them leverage their skills and educations into meaningful employment opportunities. Since 1999, volunteers have played a critical role in making it possible for On Point to help more than 10,000 individuals pursue their dreams of higher education.
