Please join us as we come together as neighbors to shine the light of hope as a community and across the great state of VA! We will light luminaria in memory and in honor of those who have fought cancer on Sunday evening, September 20, 2020. The funds raised will support the efforts of the American Cancer Society, dedicated to save lives, celebrate lives, and lead the fight for a world without cancer.

Due to COVID-19, Cancer patients and researchers need us now, more than ever.

Virginia Unite" offers these solutions:

Offers participants to engage in an impactful event that has shown fundraising success.

Can be done while social distancing with a degree of an in-person experience.

Offers an opportunity to support the American Cancer Society at any price point in increments of $10.

Reaches beyond our network of constituents, reaching new donors.

Provides the most meaningful part of our Relay For Life experience.

Neighborhood campaigns can be done simply or be done as creatively as they wish.

An opportunity to focus on one simple and successful fundraising activity.

Each person hosts a "Neighbors Unite, Let’s Shine On" evening in their neighborhood

Distributes flyers in their neighborhood with appeal/return envelope asking neighbors to donate for luminaria

Goal is 15-25 per Host - $200

Collects funds online or in person (social distancing)

Distributes luminaria bags to neighbors

Sends reminder to neighbors the day before to set out bags

Can utilize neighborhood apps like "Nextdoor"

If the host is a registered Relayer, they can direct luminaria sales to their fundraising page

If the host is not a Relayer, they can request sales by cash, check, venmo and paypal to collect donations.
