Virtual English Conversation Facilitator - Help Adult English Language Learners Gain Confidence

If you are interested in helping adult English language learners gain confidence as they practice speaking English then consider volunteering as the facilitator for one of our English Conversation Groups.

The conversation groups provide informal opportunities to meet other English language learners and practice speaking English in a friendly, welcoming online environment.

As a group facilitator you will assist English language learners build English skills and confidence as they practice conversations that cover American culture and a range of subject areas pertinent to daily life.

You do NOT need to speak a language other than English. TESOL, bi-lingual an advantage but not required. We are looking for 2-3 volunteers to work together at each group virtual meeting to facilitate and provide additional support for participants and for Zoom tech support. You will receive program facilitation training and have access to resources designed to enrich activities.

Requirements:

  • Must be 21+ years of age
  • Fluent and conversant in English
  • Ability to speak simply and clearly
  • Commit to 1 hour a week for 6 months (Specific schedule and frequency to be determined by staff)
  • Access to online meeting platform Zoom with camera and speakers

Virtual sessions are once a week. Day and time to be determined.

  • afternoon / 01:00 PM to 02:00 PM
    Fridays
  • afternoon / 01:00 PM to 02:15 PM
    Thursdays
  • evening / 05:00 PM to 06:00 PM
    Thursdays
