Ensure seniors are not lonely by breaking up their day. The Senior Chat Line is a semi-structured group phone call. Seniors call in to the chat line Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays from 12:00 - 1:00pm. The facilitator must be able to lead the conversation while sometimes allowing a free-flow to happen. You must be flexible, willing to listen and learn from the callers, and be an all around good communicator.

  • Lead and facilitate a call using Zoom.
  • (desired but not a must) Create new chat line content.

  • Comfortable using technology such as Zoom

Location & Time:

  • From the convenience of your own home!
  • Senior chat line is 12:00 - 1:00 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. The volunteer can sign up for any dates they are available to facilitate.

Training and Supervision:

There is a required 1-hour training and volunteers can "listen-in" on one Senior Chat Line call prior to facilitating their own Senior Chat Line. Ongoing support and training would be provided by an IFW Senior Service staff.

Screening:

This volunteer position does require a background check prior to starting the assignment
