If you are looking for an opportunity to enrich the spiritual lives of others, we invite you to become an Ethos Hospice Associate Chaplain Volunteer. Volunteering for hospice can be one of the most emotionally and spiritually rewarding experiences in a persons life.

Our volunteers are invaluable members of the Ethos Hospice Team and share their time and talents to enhance the quality of life for those living with terminal illnesses. Associate Chaplain Volunteers provide spiritual support in coordination with the care provided by our staff Chaplains. Individuals wanting to become associate chaplain volunteers must have evidence of completing a formal training program - such as ordained ministers, members of religious orders, and Stephen's Ministries. Associate Chaplain Volunteers are strongly encouraged to have at least one unit of CPE.

Potential volunteers are asked to submit a Pastoral Recommendation in addition to their volunteer application. All spiritual care volunteers are interviewed by the Ethos Hospice chaplains to determine readiness to meet spiritual needs and must complete 6 hours of supervision with the Ethos Hospice Chaplain prior to volunteering independently.

Volunteering with Ethos is very flexible. All volunteers are given assignments based on their interests and amount of time they have available. Because we consider our volunteers an extension of our staff, volunteers should be able to commit time to volunteer orientation, be dependable, and provide their own transportation.

Volunteers are still needed even with restrictions and precautions due to Covid-19. Volunteers are provided with all protective equipment necessary to perform assigned duties and are offered weekly Covid-19 testing if actively working with a hospice patient.

Description

Ethos was formed in February 2014 by Bethany Retirement Living, Eventide Senior Living Communities, and Knute Nelson. Ethos Hospice provides personalized care and services to individuals with life-limiting diagnoses who live in a 30 mile radius of Fargo-Moorhead. Volunteers have a critical role in providing exceptional care in hospice, and our volunteers at Ethos are an integral part of our team.

There are many opportunities for volunteering including providing companionship, complimentary care, eleventh hour, bereavement care, homemaking, office and administrative work, and event assistance.
