HELP STUDENTS IMPROVE READING SKILLS! Only 31% of Arizona's fourth-grade students were reading proficiently in 2019, rendering them more likely to experience a myriad of other risk factors. Getting involved early can help children increase their reading skills so they can become strong readers before exiting third grade, greatly improving their chances of lifelong success! Be part of our volunteer team to combat this literacy crisis!

Tutor students in reading 1:1 through either in-person or through Zoom. We provide extensive training to prepare you for success! No previous experience s required. You will use digital books to tutor a student one-on-one (in 2nd or 3rd grade) following a structured 30-minute tutoring format.

You work with the same students every week to develop a strong relationship with the students, serve as a mentor, and see meaningful improvement in their reading skills. Tutoring opportunities are available in person or through Zoom.

AARP Foundation Experience Corps is an intergenerational volunteer-based tutoring program that is proven to help children who aren’t reading at grade level become great readers by the end of third grade. We inspire and empower adults 50 and older to serve in their community and disrupt the cycle of poverty by making a lasting difference in the lives of America’s most vulnerable children.

As the rural affiliate to bring Experience Corps to Pinal County, Achieve Pinal is partnering with the City of Casa Grande and the Casa Grande Elementary School District to recruit experienced community-based volunteers ages 50 and over. They will serve as academic tutors in the AARP Experience Corps Reading Program. We will be serving children in grades 1 st through 3 rd that attend the following schools: Cottonwood, Mesquite, Saguaro, or CGOLA.
