Work Description:

H.Y.P.E to Empower is seeking qualified volunteers with various educational backgrounds. The Program Development Volunteer(s) will develop and assist in the creation of templates, documents, activities, and tools to support program development deliverables. The Development Team will work for hand in hand with the Grant Writing Committee and help work toward the outcomes and funding deliverables.

Information Related to the Job Description:

  • The position is unpaid. (Volunteer)
  • Training will be provided.
  • Deadline-driven team player with multitasking abilities.
  • If seeking credit or practicum hours, additional documents will be required.
  • Positions allow flexible work schedules.
  • All volunteer hours will be conducted remotely.
  • Can be time-sensitive depending on funding deliverables.

Curriculum Development Description: At the direction of the Program Manager of Instruction, work with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and/or other technical experts to create curriculum with the following components:

  • Module outlines, Module syllabi, Session activities, Homework PowerPoint presentations

Subject Matter Expert: In general, the responsibility of the SME is to ensure the facts and details are correct so that the project's/program deliverable(s) will meet the needs of the stakeholders, legislation, policies, standards, and best practices.

SME Area of Need: Social Media Expertise, Campaign Building, Storytelling, Mental Health, Education, Evaluation, and Health,

Graphic Designer: For this project, the Graphic Designer will handle all the

  • Graphics, animations, Graphics team (s),

IT Specialist: This is another role that may extend beyond the development process. The IT Specialist works out any technical glitches within the eLearning course, making certain that everything runs smoothly, and manages the networks and tech tools. In this process, we are using Google Classroom.

Time, Tools, Location

  • We work off Eastern Standard Time
  • We do not have set hours per week.
    • We work off weekly check-ins. We expect you as a volunteer to manage your hours to meet check-ins.
  • All Volunteering positions will be held virtual (Zoom)
  • This is a remote volunteer opportunity.
    • Meaning you can be located anywhere in the United States provided you have a computer and a reliable internet connection.
  • This opportunity is flexible. However, we will work on the deadlines needed to ensure a successful grant submission.

Qualifications and skills:

  • Be willing to experiment, comfortable trying new things, and not afraid to fail and interested in HIV/AIDS and LGBTQ matters.
  • Time management, Interpersonal skills, Strong people skills., Organizational skills, Ability to meet deadlines, Ability to work independently.

VISION STATEMENT We envision empowered youth who are financially sustainable, lead a healthy lifestyle and have the education and leadership skills to actively lead an HIV positive community that is able to support and advocate not only for the HIV community but also educate society as a whole on HIV prevention, facts, and misnomers.

Description

About our founder:
On March 28, 2010, on his eighteenth birthday, Robert was diagnosed with AIDS (acquired immune deficiency syndrome). In December of the same year, he was also diagnosed with Cancer. Despite these lives changing events, Robert prevailed. With much prayer and strong will he beat cancer and became HIV undetectable (controlled).

After three years of living with the virus, Robert formed his own organization, HIV Positive Youth That Pledge to Empower Themselves and Others or (H.Y.P.E). H.Y.P.E was created from inspiration, love, and compassion.


About H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc.:

H.Y.P.E. to Empower, Inc. aims to transform the lives of children, youth, young adults, families, and communities living with HIV. H.Y.P.E.’s targeted population are HIV positive children, youth, and young adults between the ages of 13-30 years old, and their families affected by HIV.

Our comprehensive and relevant inactivates involve community services, HIV-education, academic education, counseling, medical, social, and professional support, and self and social empowerment.

In addition to our direct services for HIV positive individuals and communities, we also aim to provide our skills and expertise to persons, groups, organizations, and businesses who wish to utilize the HYPE model in targeting areas where they wish to make a difference.
