Position Overview

The Guitars for Vets (G4V) Development and Marketing Intern will assist the Development Director with fundraising activities and manage our social media assets to ensure that our national corporate messaging is consistent. As in integral component of our team, you are a highly motivated, self-starter who can quickly contribute to our national fundraising initiatives.

Position Responsibilities

• Contributing to specific fundraising initiatives through attending in-person meetings and initiating phone calls and emails.
• Identifying potential new development opportunities.
• Attend events and fundraising activities as needed
• Actively create social media content across our various social media platforms on a daily basis
• Propose innovative ways to use social media
• Monitor affiliated social media pages for content consistency

Key Competencies

• 1-3 years of social media/marketing experience. Corporate and/or non-profit experience preferred.
• Experience and/or willingness in fast growing, entrepreneurial environments.
• Self-starter.
• Outstanding communication and people skills.
• Familiarity with Cloud Services and various business applications (e.g. Salesforce, Google Drive, etc.)

Company Overview

Guitars for Vets(r) (G4V) is dedicated to sharing the healing power of music with Veterans suffering from Post Traumatic Stress (PTS), Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and other health issues resulting from their service. The company pursues its mission by providing free, private guitar instruction, a practice guitar, accessories and method book in a structured program run by volunteers, primarily through the Department of Veterans Affairs facilities. G4V is a federally registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2007 with headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

To date, the company has given over 40,000 lessons and distributed over 4,000 new guitars to veterans.
