The Teen Connect program at Resources of Hope is looking for a few select adults that would like to play an active role in the lives of our community's foster/kinship/adopted youth. We have four groups: Guys, LGBTQ+, Girls, Skills Training. We are looking for mentors for each of these groups. Each group meets once/month for dinner and a planned activity. Previous activities have included: Self-defense, car care, cooking, painting, escape room. We are seeking adults with education/experience in the foster system. Minimum age requirement is 25.
Responsibilities:
- Monthly Commitment to TC events/activities (Friday night, once/month)
- Quarterly Commitment to TC Mentor Meetings (usually a Saturday morning)
- Help Develop and Build Community Relationships
- Ensure Child Protective Procedures are Followed
- Act as Positive Role Model for Young People
- Engage in the Planning/Coordinating of Age Appropriate Events/Activities
Requirements:
- Knowledge/experience working with foster youth.
- Must pass a Child Protective Services Check.
- Must pass a Criminal Background Check
- Must be responsive to email communication.
- Must be willing to attend "Stewards of Children", "QPR" and TBRI" training as available.
- Willingness to sign an Accountability/Commitment Statement

There are nearly 20,000 children in foster care in the state of Indiana. Many children and youth come into care with just the clothes they are wearing. Resources of Hope is driven by a single goal; to provide children in foster care with the physical items that they need and help equip foster parents and the community to meet the emotional needs of foster youth. We strive to build intentional relationships and make a positive impact with all of our efforts.
