Provide support to people experiencing homelessness as our next Reception Intern/Volunteer! With guidance from our full-time Receptionist, the Reception Intern/Volunteer helps to create a welcoming environment, respond to the needs of clients and other visitors, and increase staff capacity to support clients with achieving housing stability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Welcome all visitors with respect and positivity
- Provide clients with relevant resources through personalized referrals and upkeep of our resource board
- Assist with administrative tasks such as data entry, appointment check-in and returning voicemails
- Complete other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Availability within business hours M-F 9am - 5pm
- Ability to volunteer 8+ hours per week for 6 months
- Friendly, outgoing, and eager to engage in conversation with patrons
- Demonstrated commitment to promoting an anti-racist, equity-driven culture
- Strong ability to remain calm under pressure and provide support to people in crisis
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (primarily Word, Outlook and Excel)
- Willingness to learn new database and multiline phone systems

Volunteering During COVID-19
Associated Ministries is an essential service, and this position takes place in-person at our offices. All staff and volunteers are required to follow strict protocols to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

Associated Ministries is a non-profit organization located in the Hilltop neighborhood of Tacoma, WA. We are an interfaith organization uniting communities of different faiths to work together toward lasting solutions to homelessness. We provide housing services to people experiencing homelessness, as well as support to modest and low income households as a form of homeless prevention. We strive to create an anti-racist equity-driven environment for all clients, staff, and volunteers who come through our doors.
