We are looking for a male volunteer to mentor an 18-year-old youth in Bethany's refugee foster care program. He arrived to the United States in November of 2019 and has been living in one of Bethany's residential homes. In the next few months, he will be moving to one of Bethany's Independent Living Plus group homes. This youth began in 9th grade at a local alternative charter school in December of 2019, but since then he has quickly advanced to 11th grade. He has "very good" English language abilities according to his case manager. He is motivated in school and eager to continue learning about Grand Rapids and developing independent living skills.
