Role Brief: Lead a team of social media volunteers, drive growth, engagement, and awareness to support our nonprofit organization through multiple social media venues. Create strong content both through writing copy and selecting/editing images related to child abuse, neglect, and child protection. Find artistic content of various forms to advocate for abused and neglected children which will be shared on digital media to add variety to statistic-heavy content. A Social Media Community Manager will make it possible for Kids at Risk Action (KARA) to create fresh, cohesive content through frequent, valuable, and informative updates which attract new supporters to our landing pages on a regular basis, build deeper connections with supporters, and compel them to take further action on behalf of KARA.
Responsibilities:
- Create a strategy for a virtual team of social media volunteers
- Plan a monthly content calendar which includes a minimum of 2-3 posts on every social media platform weekly
- Develop content for 2-3 posts per week, which will include writing engaging copy and selecting an image from an image bank to edit
- Post content to social media platforms
- Monitor and respond to comments with social media content
- Increase the number of followers and engagement with social media pages
- Measure and analyze the effectiveness of social media strategy
- Suggest new and creative ways opportunities to attract followers through postings
- Identify and cultivate relationships with influencers
- Hold a weekly meeting with the social media team and provide updates to the organization Founder and nonprofit Board Members
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing or similar relevant field
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in social media content creation
- Experience leading a social media team
- Demonstrated ability to write successful social media content (samples needed)
- Detail-oriented, organized, deadline-driven
- Clear, precise, and compelling writing skills
- Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently with purpose and accuracy in a fast-paced environment
- Proficient with one or all the following: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram
- Fluent in spoken and written English; able to communicate clearly and consistently
- Proficiency with Google Suite Apps such as Docs, Forms, and Sheets
- Familiarity with Slack groups and communication
- Minimum volunteer hours expected: 5 hours per week
