ORGANIZATION: Marillac St. Vincent Family Services

Help meet a basic human need-FOOD-at Marillac St. Vincent's East Garfield Park location. Since spring of 2022, we have almost DOUBLED the number of households coming to our pantry. We serve about 220 households a week.

Our pantry welcomes volunteers on Wednesdays & Fridays to shop with participants, and on Tuesdays & Thursdays to help with store and food prep and restocking. We also welcome volunteers Wednesday mornings to help receive and unload our weekly 12,000+ lb. delivery from the Greater Chicago Food Depository. Shopping shifts involve greeting clients, assisting with intake, escorting guests as they shop, and helping people to their cars. Delivery/prep shifts involve receiving, unpacking, and storing food deliveries, sorting/gleaning fresh produce, sorting/gleaning meat deliveries, packing hygiene items, setting up the store, or/and other organizational tasks. Our volunteers come from all age groups, experiences and backgrounds but what brings them together is their desire to be of service to their neighbors in Chicago.
