Description
Mondays at Racine began in 2003 when we opened our doors of the salon on the third Monday of every month to provide beauty and wellness services to anyone undergoing treatment for cancer, free of charge. The overwhelming success of the program coupled with the HBO documentary, Mondays at Racine, has led to the the genesis of Mondays at Racine, Inc., a 501(c)3 nonprofit, which will enable the program to be available to patients on a daily basis by 2015. It is with the support of your donation and or collaboration that will allow us to expand our reach, supportive services, and e ventually have a fully functional facility dedicated solely to providing services to clients undergoing treatment.
We have learned that there are several faces to cancer. One, is the disease itself, and the trauma it creates within the body. Another is the anxiety it stirs in the mind and the fear of uncertainty. Then there are the toxic assaults from chemotherapy and radiation, and then the pain that goes along with them. Mondays at Racine works with three of those faces, using complementary therapies to ease the pain of treatment; physically, mentally, and spiritually. We understand the value of the synergistic approach, where time-tested therapeutics combine to lift the individual in treatment on all levels, thereby enhancing conventional medical treatments.
