WHY SHOULD I VOLUNTEER?

This is an opportunity to show the very healthcare providers you aspire to become the quality service you will one day provide to your patients!

Volunteers will receive recognition in the form of a letter of recommendation, volunteer hours certificate, and reimbursement for travel and food costs. Because we are a group of medical students temporarily relieved from clinical duties, we are also in the process of launching an opportunity for pre-medical students where they will receive peer mentorship and networking opportunities along with an option to engage in clinical skills workshops.

WHAT IS MD COVIDSITTERS?

We are a student-led organization with the mission of connecting frontline essential healthcare workers with aspiring healthcare student volunteers to help provide childcare, tutoring, errands, and other household services in the state of Maryland. We have recently expanded our services to Washington DC and Northern Virginia. It takes a village!

WHY IS THERE A NEED?

Currently, essential healthcare workers are severely burdened in many ways. They are faced with increasing number of critically ill patients, longer work hours, shortages of personal protective equipment, and are unable to meet basic necessities to support their families such as childcare and errands.

HOW DO I SIGN UP?

For additional information and instructions on signing up, please visit our website www.mdcovidsitters.org and click on "I'm a Student" at the top.

Thank you for supporting our mission!

Mission Statement

Our mission is to serve healthcare providers and other essential workers, patients, and communities in the state of Maryland during the coronavirus outbreak. Our goal is to identify needs and create teams of student volunteers to help address those needs. We want to start by helping those on the frontlines of COVID-19 who need help managing their household. Our caregivers provide in-person tutoring, babysitting, online tutoring, pet-walking/sitting, grocery runs, and errands. It takes a village!
