COVID - 19 has created food security concerns for many and it has changed how we help those who need access to healthy food.

We are all experiencing challenges from the pandemic. Some of our youth and families relied on the school schedule and lunch programs BEFORE the pandemic hit. Now, they can use more support than ever.

With school and daycare closures, many families are facing more challenges than ever. How can essential workers ensure their children can safely access healthy food, if they can't shelter in place with their family?

Mercy Housing has partnered with school districts to provide FREE lunches to youth in their housing community. The service is well utilized, which often makes it difficult for staff to distribute alone. Join us and roll up your sleeves to help with boxed lunch distribution. Volunteers like you make it possible!

Distributions are held every Monday and Thursday to help school age children access healthy food.
Volunteers are needed Mondays 12:00noon - 1:00pm.
and Thursdays 11:00am - 12:00noon

We will practice safe social distance protocols, and we ask that all volunteers bring a mask and gloves.

White Rock Village, an inclusionary housing development, provides 168 apartments for low-income families in El Dorado Hills, California.

Mission Statement

To create stable, vibrant and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating affordable, program-enriched housing for families, seniors and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access quality, safe housing opportunities.

Description

Mercy Housing was founded in 1981 in response to the lack of stable, affordable housing for vulnerable populations. In working to fulfill our mission, Mercy Housing California has developed more than 154 affordable housing communities in 36 counties throughout California, providing 17,000+ homes and serving over 24,000 people in need.

Mercy's commitment to program-enriched housing distinguishes us from many other large scale affordable housing developers. Housing is foundational - everyone needs a home. But many people who have endured poverty and other challenges need an additional hand-up to create the lives they want for themselves and their families. Our dedicated staff and volunteers work with residents right in their homes and neighborhoods on issues like health and wellness, housing stability, financial security as well as provide a full range of enriching out-of-school time options for youth.
