ORGANIZATION: Heartland Hospice

  • A group opportunity. Invite your friends.
  • 12 people are interested

Heartland Hospice is looking for volunteers to provide friendly visits with our hospice patients and their families. Heartland volunteers see patients close to their own work and home. We serve patients throughout the Triangle. Currently, we are in need of volunteers to work with our patients in Holly Springs/Fuquay Varina/Apex areas.

If you are interested in learning more about this rewarding and unique opportunity, please inquire. The first step is a phone interview. If selected, you will be invited to attend an orientation session where you will receive the training you need to prepare you for your visits. All volunteers are also trained in appropriate use of PPE and will receive a PPE kit before seeing patients.

At no time will a volunteer be sent to work with a COVID positive patient or family. Volunteers see patients in the patients' homes. We are currently not sending patients in to any type of facility (nursing, rehab, assisted living, etc.) due to the risk of COVID19 exposure.

Thank you for your interest in the Heartland Hospice Volunteer Program! We look forward to hearing from you!

Description

Our Volunteers are the hearts of Heartland Hospice. No task is too big or too small. A skilled team of staff and volunteers cater to the control of medical, social, psychological, and spiritual symptoms of our patients and families living with a terminal illness. Volunteers bring comfort to patients and their families through their work in various areas such as friendly visitor, caregiver relief sitting, special projects, bereavement, pet therapy, cosmetology, vigil, and memory catchers. There are volunteer opportunities to comfort, attend to, share a laugh, reassure, do something creative, treasure a memory, or spend quite time at a patent's bedside - just being there so a patient never feels alone. Volunteer work is varied. As a Heartland Hospice volunteer you can donate as much or as little of your time as you desire, we are flexible to meet your scheduling needs. Volunteers come specifically to Heartland Hospice for different reasons. Most volunteers express a desire to "give back" for a kindness they experienced within their lives. Heartland is also looking to recruit volunteers to fill special project roles including weekly readers for reading groups and seasonal activity leaders for patients who live in local facilities.

You have not lived until you have done something for someone who can never repay you!
