Built and installed in 1977, the Buckhorn Northern Railroad in North Lake Park has been operating from Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day. In 1988 the City of Loveland purchased the train and has been operated by the Lion Club ever since that time.

The Buckhorn Northern Railroad is an authentic replica of the actual steam train that hauled clay from the Devil's Backbone to Wild's Brick Yard. The train includes 1588 feet of track, a small depot, a tunnel, a water tower, a diesel-powered engine, two open passenger cars, a cattle car and a caboose. The train normally runs 6 days a week. Ridership includes children going for their first train ride to senior citizens. Riders are from all over including tourists from many countries.

Needed are volunteers to staff all functions including Engineer, Conductor, and Station Agent.

Successful candidates must be friendly, organized, able to follow procedures and enjoy volunteering in a fun environment. Engineers must be over 18 to operate the engine
