Join the CA Foster Youth Initiative AmeriCorps Program! Become a Mentor. Change the lives of foster youth.
CA Foster Youth Initiative is a CAVolunteers-funded statewide program administered by the Child Abuse Prevention Center. The program is designed to increase academic engagement and achievement; life skills and technology; college, career, and workforce readiness; and leadership and placement stability for foster youth.
The Youth Mentor AmeriCorps Member will guide foster youth to build skills necessary for a successful transition to adulthood. The Member will provide life skills support, mentoring, workshops, and activities to support foster youth. The member will provide academic assistance and financial literacy lessons. The member will complete assessments and monthly data requirements.
Benefits of joining AmeriCorps include: living allowance, education award upon successful completion of service term, training, loan forbearance, interest accrual, health insurance if eligible, and child care subsidy if eligible.
CA Foster Youth Initiative service opportunities are available in the following CA counties:
Butte, Colusa, Glenn, Kern, Los Angeles, Madera, Monterey, Sacramento, San Mateo, Shasta, Siskiyou, Solono, Sonoma, Sutter, Tehama, Tulare, Yolo.
