Help Now! Advocacy is now searching for a new development director who will lead the organization into sustainability as it continues to transform itself and its nationally-unique services from a local organization that has served 9300+ clients over the past 18 years into a virtual and national organization now offering our services through the first-ever national advocacy hotline for individuals and families in crisis. (A national phone company has donated the hotline and all services associated with it to our organization.
The individual we are seeking for this position must have prior experience as a non-profit development director or otherwise have considerable knowledge in the area of fundraising and grant writing for non-profits. He or she must also be a creative individual with personal charisma and impeccable credentials. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to get in on the "ground floor" of a unique social service that has the potential to impact the lives of great numbers of Americans.
While we are looking for an individual who has the ability to work without pay for a period of time as funding is procured for the position, we also expect this to become a fully paid position with benefits within a reasonable period of time with pay growing as the organization grows. Applicants should be clear that the magnitude of their contributions/funding procured as a volunteer DD will be a very strong consideration when a determination is made by our board of directors as to who fills that paid position. If sustainable funding has been created by this individual while in the volunteer DD position, unless there is some other unforeseen consideration that would come into the hiring assessment, it is highly likely that the individual would be placed in the paid position.
Send resume and cover letter detailing qualifications to LMKAHN@HELPNOWADVOCACY.ORG.

Mission Statement
Help Now! provides advice, support, and skilled negotiations to assist individuals and families in crisis.
Description
In a nutshell, Help Now! performs critical crisis intervention for individuals who, because of financial, educational, intellectual, emotional, or cultural disadvantages, are unable to work through the crises they are facing on their own. Although we will help anyone who requires assistance, our focus populations are seniors, the disabled (including mentally ill), and minorities--populations that, due to factors endemic to these groups--frequently are unable to work through crisis situations as they arise. Our assistance may involve our trained advocate's solving the problem or resolving the dispute for the client, or it may, by assisting through "system navigation," involve our referring the client to another individual or organization uniquely positioned to address the client's problem or dispute. The network of "community partners" which we have established--professionals, businesspeople, and trades people, will frequently assist our clients at minimal or no fee in support of our philanthropic work. Help Now! is supported by donations and grants--we do not charge our mostly indigent clients any fees for the services we provide although they are free to make donations if they choose.
