Intellectual Practice Learning is seeking an educated, experienced, professional, fun, organized, meticulous and detail oriented virtual educator/nanny/sitter to manage a busy family and little VIPs 0-12 years old. Schedule will be on an hourly basis and based on availability of work (includes weekdays and weekends). When scheduled on weekdays, shifts will typically be between 11:00am-7:00pm. The Intellectual Practice Program will ensure nanny/sitter/educator has schedule at least two weeks in advance, when possible. Flexibility is required with scheduling as last-minute orders for services occasionally arise. Virtual nanny/sitter/educator must be collaborative to work with domestic staff (e.g., full-time housekeeper or the person physically at the residence watching the child while you provide your educational experience) and directly with principals on a daily basis, be warm, nurturing, have calm confidence and an easy-going demeanor, be discreet, assertive, proactive, resourceful, have a self-starter mentality, be organized, detail-oriented, hard-working, service-focused, kind, professional, have the ability to multi-task, wear many hats and be capable of maintaining discretion. Candidates must be at least of high school age. Start date is flexible for the right candidate.
Demonstrate positive play-based learning and create educational activities with the help of lesson plans provided by Intellectual Practice Learning (e.g., planned engaging activities at home, developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts, scheduled virtual trips, etc.)
Be knowledgeable about child development (e.g., firm when necessary and capable of teaching children manners and etiquette, but also capable of being laid back and fun)
Support teaching and reinforcement of manners and other social skills
Facilitate developmentally appropriate games and activities, engaging projects and crafts from home and schedule/plan fun outings and events
Assist children with homework, school projects, studying for tests, etc. and keep parents informed of progress and needs
Schedule meeting with principal(s) as needed to discuss their schedule, children's schedules, travel plans, upcoming events, special projects, etc.
Capable of building rapport with children (school aged, pre-teens, teenagers, etc.)
Highly organized, detail-oriented, proactive, excellent with time management, efficient and service focused
Attentive to principals' preferences and style (intuitive to their needs)
Ability to maintain discretion (confidentiality agreement is required). Ability to be discreet with respect for employer’s privacy
Professional presentation of self and great personality
Ability to develop and maintain solid working relationships with service providers, contractors and vendors
Ability to work collaboratively with vendors and oversee projects
Ability to easily take direction
Strong ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with principals (extension of parents and consistent childcare philosophies) and domestic employees
Strong technology skills and experienced working with Macintosh just in case you need to provide minimal technical support.
Positive attitude and ability to handle position with ease and calm demeanor
We hire high schoolers, college students and professionals to work with our kids. If you are a student, you will be required to provide a grade report to substantiate your mastery of certain material. Likewise, if you are a professional, you will be asked to show credentials that verify your area of expertise.
Experienced working with at least three or four children (similar in ages and/or multiples)
Passionate about education, child development, etc.
CPR Certification would be useful should you need to virtually instruct someone in the home about how to save a life
To provide qualifying students of the Jeune Hope Chicago Initiative’s Intellectual Practice Program with scholarships from the Rebecca Everlene Trust Company Edie Opportunity, and coaching in the areas of math, science, and writing, while also supporting them through the process of creating a potentially patentable innovation, and/or a publishable piece of writing.
To additionally provide financial support and entrepreneurial coaching for Jeune Hope Chicago Initiative Project RED program participants. Through scholarships from the Edie O. program, and participant fundraising efforts, students experiencing a difficult time covering the cost of prom will receive the gift of a dreamy prom evening. Home schooled and ostracized students who haven't had an opportunity to develop friendships that lead to prom dates will also have the ability to request compatible peer escorts via efforts of the program.
To provide hair assistance through the Back Alley Hair Initiative, for those who have fallen on hard times. Just because the economy is bad, it doesn’t mean that ladies and kids have to look the part; gentlemen either if they wear fashionable braids. The Fairy God-Stylist seeks to spare talented individuals some of the shame associated with living on a tight budget. She also understands that appearance can make or break a child’s confidence and self-esteem. Whether a client has an interview, or a mom wants to treat her child to a princess braiding session, we are here to shut those meddling coworkers up and make their jaws drop. And lastly, to raise awareness about Breed Specific Legislation (BSL) and show pet owners how to make canines a functioning part of their households through Tam & Wags. By using basic training techniques, pet owners can overcome any behavioral issues that their pets have and transform their home into a more stable environment.
Through last year’s efforts, we raised awareness about our capabilities as an organization, and expanded our programs to include the Intellectual Practice, Project RED and Edie Opportunity Programs. We also launched Back Alley Hair, and Tam & Wags. Much of the funding that we need to cover the cost of student projects will be generated from the fundraising efforts of the students themselves, in addition to subsidized program fees that will be offered to those who qualify for assistance.
Our mission still hasn’t changed. We aspire to provide qualifying students of the Jeune Hope Chicago Initiative’s Intellectual Practice Program with scholarships from the Rebecca Everlene Trust Company Edie Opportunity, and coaching in the areas of math, science, and writing, while also supporting them through the process of creating a potentially patentable innovation, and/or a publishable piece of writing.
Because of our programs, more than 20 students will be able to attend prom, and receive entrepreneurial training. Another 45 will also have access to extraordinary mentors that will help them develop marketable projects during a yearlong program. And, we also plan to service a large number of children and job seekers through the efforts of Back Alley Hair.
Financial assistance for college is going to become more difficult for people to obtain in the future. Hence, our programs aim to fill in the gap in that regard. They also assist with college preparedness, encourage innovation, foster literacy and promote STEM involvement, nurture entrepreneurial skills, and reinforce artistic abilities.
