The Doorways is an 8 story, 117 room hospitality house in downtown Richmond. Our building takes a lot of upkeep to ensure it is a clean and safe environment for our guests who are all seeking medical treatment here at one of our 10 hospital partners. For this opportunity we are looking for volunteers who are willing to work outside helping us clean windows, doors, and balconies.
Windex Parties will be held the third Thursday of every month from March - October with a weather date of the third Friday.
- Wash windows and balcony rails
- Sweep balcony floors
- Otherwise help clean the area for our guests
Windex parties are perfect for small groups, families, or larger groups who are willing to split into teams. No more than 10 people may be together at one time while volunteering. Weather appropriate attire including close toed shoes and clothes you don't mind getting dirty should be worn for this activity. This work requires be outside at various levels of our building, including heights of up to 8 stories. If this is a concern for you please indicate that when you sign up.
Social distancing guidelines will be followed by all volunteers at The Doorways. Gloves and masks are also required at all times.

Mission Statement
In operation since 1985, The Doorways mission to to provide lodging and support for patients and their loved ones who need to be close to the hospital but not far from the feeling of home. As one of the largest hospitality houses in the country, we serve close to 10,000 guests every year from around Virginia and around the world. We are proud to be a critical partner to local hospitals in support of guaranteeing high quality medical care access to all people.
Description
As one of the largest hospitality houses in the country, we are always looking for volunteers to help us maintain a home like environment for our 9,000 annual guests. Those we serve are traveling to Richmond to seek medical treatment not available in their home communities and we strive to remove those barriers and create a home away from home for them here. Volunteer opportunities range from serving meals to guests, to helping organize and sort donations, to cleaning around the house, working at the Front Desk and more. Opportunities will vary, but we are always willing to work with individuals and groups of any size and age. See our website and Facebook page for more information.

- Windex parties are held once a month for 3 hours. You are welcome to sign up for multiple shifts.
- All volunteers will receive a training and orientation to The Doorways. Long-term volunteers (those who wish to come in outside scheduled projects) are subject to a background check.
