Do you love orchestral music? Would you like to work as a volunteer with a small non-profit, meet interesting people, and listen to beautiful music? The National String Symphonia (NSS) is looking to fill the position of Coordinator of Individual Giving which is responsible for handling all administrative tasks associated with written solicitations for and receipt of individual donations made to the orchestra. This person would be tasked with mailing letters twice each year to potential donors and friends of the NSS asking for donations. Once donations are received, thank you letters and/or emails are sent to donors for their tax records. This work can be performed virtually. If interested, we would love to hear from you!
The National String Symphonia strives to preserve, promote, and present string orchestra music through a diverse array of concert performances, educational workshops, and innovative programming in Greater Washington and beyond. Artistic Vision Statement: The National String Symphonia is committed to presenting music at the highest levels of musicianship and artistry. Vision Statement: The National String Symphonia envisions a world in which art music is a meaningful part of the shared experience of a universal community.
Founded in 2013, the National String Symphonia is a fully professional symphonic string orchestra. Our mission is to preserve, promote, and present string orchestra music. Many ensembles do not program this repertoire for a variety of reasons, including its relative obscurity and its musical complexity, as well as basic challenges in obtaining performance materials.
The universality of the music and its makers is reflected in the makeup of the NSS. Our members represent a wide age range, hail from all over the world, and bring a variety of experience to our organization.
Reflecting on our 5th season, the NSS continues to grow rapidly. Our last season featured our first concerts in Baltimore, another world premiere, and our Kennedy Center debut. Our 6th season will feature yet another world premiere as well as our most expanded season yet.
The NSS is excited to partner with New Spire Arts to perform in their new performing space. New Spire Stages will open in the spring on Patrick Street in Frederick, MD and we are delighted to be among the first groups to perform there. This intimate performing space will be a great fit for us and we hope to see you there on March 1.
We feel your involvement will enrich the orchestra even more!
