Community Pet Project provides material and medical assistance to the homeless and economically fragile citizens of Hillsborough County, Florida to enable them to keep their pets. We provide food, treats, leashes, collars, beds, shampoo, flea preventative, toys, brushes, etc. and, in addition, will help cover payment for treatable medical conditions. We also offer assistance with covering the cost of short-term boarding where needed. As we are funded entirely through donations, we hold a number of in-person and virtual fundraisers each year. While we have an active Fundraising Committee, we need a leader to help identify both in-person and virtual opportunities for fundraising, ensure that events are staffed properly, and ensure that those staffing the event have all the supplies they need.

Mission Statement

We believe that loving our pets is not defined by socioeconomic status and that, for some people, pets are their only lifeline. Therefore, our mission is to help homeless and economically individuals and families in Hillsborough County with the basic needs (food, treats, bowls, collars, leashes, beds, etc.) for their pets to enable them to keep them. We also assist with medical expenses.

We rely entirely on donations, so most of our efforts are directed at holding fundraising events throughout the year. We participate in the quarterly homeless outreach events coordinated by the area law enforcement agencies. Throughout the year we provide individuals and families with deliveries of the basic necessities and financial assistance with medical needs. We have partnerships with a number of veterinary clinics and boarding facilities. Although our efforts are directed at pets, we also work with their owners to put them in touch with organizations that will provide them with the services they need.
