Assist the Delivery of Meals to Homebound Elders

Help us get food to elders in our communities!!!

We could use some helping hands to operate our Meal Packing process at our Malden office!! There are two different shifts, and we ask that you commit to at least 1 day per week.

  • Weekday mornings (about 8:30-11am) - Packing meals to go out for Meals On Wheels recipients
    • Help unload food truck and stage the meals for packing.
    • Bring coolers filled with meals to the loading dock.
  • Weekday afternoons (about 11:30-1:30pm) - Stacking the coolers and wiping them out when the drivers come back off the road from delivering meals so they are ready for the next day.
    • Check and clean the empty coolers that come back from the meals on wheels drivers.
    • Count and stack the empty coolers to be picked up by the caterers.

Mystic Valley Elder Services (MVES) is a non-profit agency that provides essential home- and community-based care and resources such as assistance with personal care, household chores, meals, and transportation to more than 20,000 older adults, adults with disabilities, and caregivers living in 11 communities north of Boston. Description

MVES is a nonprofit organization that since 1975 has acted as an entry point through which elders, families, caregivers, and health care professionals can access a wide variety of programs, services, and supports. MVES is one of the largest in a network of 25 similar aging services organizations in Massachusetts. MVES promotes safe, independence for elders and adults living with disabilities in eleven cities and towns north of Boston.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • - A minimum of two to three (2-3) hours per day, one (1) day per week. One of two shifts - Either 8:30AM-11AM or 11:30AM-1:30PM - Overall commitment of at least two (2) months
  • -Ability to lift and carry 35 pounds -Ability to stand for three (3) hours -Ability to work in a fast paced environment. -Follow directions and be a team player. -Must wear mask and gloves.
