We are seeking videographers who can create and edit video content for the diverse needs of the organization. Upcoming projects include creating a video history of Gilroy Hot Springs and creating training videos for the organization's volunteer program. During the SIP, videographers will work remotely, utilizing internet resources to build content. Once the SIP is lifted, videographers will also have the opportunity to film the Gilroy Hot Springs facility in person for organizational purposes.

One of the key historical figures of Gilroy Hot Springs is a Japanese woman who grew up at the facility starting in the 1940s after her family was released from the WWII internment camps. She is alive and well, living in Gilroy, Ca. She has much of the history and stories of the facility filed away in memory and is a great story teller. Videographers will create a video history of the facility based on interviews with this spectacular woman.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to restore public access to the healing waters and extraordinary historical heritage of the Gilroy Yamato Hot Springs, a valued natural and cultural resource.

Description

The goal of the Gilroy Hot Springs Conservancy is to restore public access to the healing waters and extraordinary historical heritage of the Gilroy Yamato Hot Springs, a valued natural and cultural resources. The San Francisco Bay Area currently has no public resource similar to this one, so the project is uniquely positioned to service an unmet need for the community. The most formidable task of the project will be to provide both a safe soaking and recreation environment, including the ongoing funding for the operation, while generating the funding required to fully restore the property over time.

This goal will be achieved by implementing a conservative five year plan, initially using volunteer power to restore and re-open key areas of the property that will solidify the financial basis of the project. Once these foundational goals are met and the basic concept proven, the partnership will be a springboard for generating resources for restoring, re-opening and staffing each section of the property, as the funding is generated. The ultimate goal of this partnership is to fully restore the property to its previous historical glory.
