MIRR Alliance (Migrant, Immigrant & Refugee Rights Alliance) is a coalition of organizations, activists, and researchers in the field of migration. As a coalition, we seek to shift the narrative, advocate for effective policy, and transform the climate of fear, blame, and "othering" directed towards immigrants, migrants, and refugees.

Migration is an intersectional issue impacted by race, class, gender, sexuality, age, ability, and nationality. Due to conflict, climate change, economic inequality, and other socio-political factors, massive population shifts are becoming the norm and will soon be the principal trend of the future. MIRR Alliance seeks to mitigate those changes by confronting false narratives, promoting shared humanity, and advocating for social justice and the fair treatment of migrants and refugees.

Youth Council now forming!

As MIRR Alliance is a new organization, we have a number of needs related to advocacy, fundraising, recruitment, and outreach. We believe young people are critical to this movement and we need your voice! The Youth Council will oversee an advisory role and plan actions - all of which will be virtual due to COVID-19.

Responsibilities:

• Plan /attend virtual events, and youth education series
• Donate your social media to campaigns and direct action events
• Recruit fellow peers in fundraising and advocacy efforts

Who can apply:

• College or high school students (or groups of students) who are passionate about immigrant/migrant rights and refugee issues; or are themselves immigrants, migrants, refugees or have a deep interest in the subject matter
• Want to develop their leadership skills, activism, and build resume experience
• Are based anywhere in the United States

Time commitment & expectations:

• This opportunity can be done virtually
• Attend virtual meetings (1-2 times a month) with MIRR Alliance leadership to discuss potential opportunities for advocacy
• Be outspoken and fearless in your online advocacy
