Data scientists mortality monitor

ORGANIZATION: World Infectious Disease Monitoring Organization (WoIDMo)

  • 14 people are interested

Our foundation is currently looking for data scientists to help roll out an existing application to additional countries.

We have developed a tool to monitor excess mortality. Understanding its evolution is fundamental for effective public health planning and action. Mortality monitoring is pivotal during influenza or other pandemics, as it provides a robust way to monitor progression and public health impacts when other systems are failing. Additionally, this tool enables to detect the emergence of new diseases early.

Applicants need to be familiar with processing of time-series in Python and ideally have experience with Dash.

You will be assigned a country to implement.

While the work packages are small (couple of days work), please make sure that you are currently available and have time to complete the job.

A sample implementation for the US is currently live and can be viewed here:

Mission Statement

The World Infectious Disease Monitoring Organization (WoIDMo) is a non-profit organization, established in 2020, that brings together a network of individuals from around the world. Our mission is to raise awareness of the importance of monitoring infectious diseases globally and how they affect us. One of the important aspects of our foundation is to function as an early warning system for emerging diseases. We also support development of better diagnostics and enable fast delivery of diagnostics where needed, especially where resource-limited countries are involved. For this we work together with other NGO’s that have boots on the ground. To further our understanding of infectious diseases and how to deal with them, we aim to support researchers working on projects relevant to our goals.
